More Upgrades to Ubuntu 24.04

I know it because my article is getting more views.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04 this September. The day after the upgrade, I wrote an article about an issue I encountered with the new version. Surprisingly, that post has received more views than anything else I’ve published on this platform the last few months.

It Spiked in November

Initially, I wrote some articles on Medium hoping to earn a little income. That venture didn’t go as planned — at least, not right away. So, I set Medium aside to focus on my main SaaS project. Then, in the first week of November, I received an email from Medium with a stats update. To my surprise, one of my articles had garnered over 200 views.

I logged into Medium to check the details and saw a spike of 70 views in one day, with a steady trickle of readers daily. I hoped it was one of the articles I had carefully crafted that was finally gaining traction. But after checking each post, I realized none of those articles were drawing new views.

Hello There!

Scrolling down the stats page, I found the source of the spike: it was the post about fixing screen flickering issue in Ubuntu 24.04. Nearly all the recent views were coming from that one article, primarily through search traffic. Curious, I googled “Fix flickering screen in Ubuntu 24.04.” My article was the top result.

Then, I tried searching “Screen problem Ubuntu 24.04,” and again, my post appeared first on Google.

It’s not as if there aren’t other posts about this issue, but it seems that Medium articles rank especially high in search results, particularly when the title includes the right keywords. You might think that’s true for all websites, but it’s not always the case.

As I said it mostly comes from outside of Medium. Internal Medium only converts 15% of the traffic.

Was it Boost?

I don’t think so. Since Medium mentioned in one of their last blog posts. The boosted posts will have a badge or an indicator in the stats page. I thought about boost after seeing 153 coming from email. However, that stat includes IM, and direct access. I don’t think it’s boost.
