As of today, February 27th, 2025, Pi is sitting at around $2.66. It hit an all-time high of $2.90 early this morning. And yet, while major cryptocurrencies are bleeding red, Pi keeps climbing on CoinMarketCap.
But why?
Greed in Play
When the mainnet launched, we saw a massive selloff from a huge number of pioneers. Many were comparing the opening price of $2 to the Pi IOU price — which was never reliable in the first place. IOU data was spread across multiple exchanges and platforms, but none of it was confirmed.
As soon as Pi officially launched, the price started plummeting. I honestly expected it to crash to $0.0[7]1 at any moment. I was waiting, eager to buy more and hold for the future.
But then… disappointment hit hard.
Pi never dropped below $0.40, which was strange. Later, after digging into different communities, the reason became clear: holders of other cryptos were liquidating against Pi as soon as they saw potential.
